DONATIONS

Purchasing sale items during the visits
One way for individuals to donate to others is through purchase of items for sale. The United Artisans Cooperative will have their materials for sale for each group. Women in Cuentepec will be selling their home made pottery items. Women in La Estacion will be selling flowers, candies, and decorated embroidered cloths. Your purchase is a sign of support of their work and is a great help to them economically. Keep a little change in your pocket for these visits.

Operational Fund donation
Any group or individual who wishes to contribute to our operational fund is welcome to do so. We keep our costs low so many can come and participate in this cross-cultural immersion experience. Funds are needed for program materials, staff salaries and benefits, as well as building maintenance. Our income fluctuates depending on number of participants per year which makes our budgeting a challenge. Your generosity to our operational fund will be appreciated.

CCIDD Partners Fund donation (Contingency Fund)
We take our groups to meet our Partners, many living on the margin economically. You may want to contribute to a particular need expressed by a group or family you meet. After the dialogue with a cooperative, community or family here, your group may want to discuss possible future fundraising as part of an action plan. Checks can be sent later for specific needs. At CCIDD we do encourage work for systemic change as well as direct service to those in need. Each year needs are clarified. Your donations will go directly to those in need. Your generosity is most welcome.

Often a cooperative, school or family will express their needs differently than we perceive them. Frequently a mention is made of needs during a dialogue with a CCIDD group. We prefer to ask a group what their need is rather than deciding upon something which may not be a priority for them. This is also a part of the learning experience, to allow others to receive a donation and use it as they desire and have the freedom to determine. A CCIDD group may choose to give but not to specify how the funds are to be used.

Donations can be left to Contingency Fund (our Partners Fund) for general use. We support many through our Contingency fund on a regular basis. Emergencies arise during the year. Education support is given regularly to individuals and families. Families are helped with health care costs. Donations are given to social justice groups working for human rights. Political prisoners receive support.

Examples of past donations: contributing to the education cost of children of a particular family; purchasing equipment for a group i.e., refrigerator for the breakfast program in La Estacion, materials to build a kiln in Cuentepec.

Each year we send out a list of donors, donations and recipients of these donations in our CCIDD newsletter.

Please talk with Sister Kathy Long O.P., CCIDD Director regarding all donations. Thank you!
